Tourism at farms or in country areas is a product demanded by the traveler seeking for a change of environment, something different, allowing him to recover strengths as well as to live real experiencies. This is the place for whoever looks for an exclusive time to be in contact with nature, traditional life styles and to meet country people.

LOCATION:

Nine kilometers away from Santa Rosa City heading north along National Highway Nr. 35, one hour direct flight from Buenos Aires, and 6 km away from Santa Rosa Airport in an extensive plain with mounts of centennial caldens (prosopia algarrobilla).

HISTORY:

"Estancia Villaverde" was acquired in the thirties by Don Juan Fernandez Lorences, father and grandfather of the present owners. The former owner was Don Felipe Centeno who had been Governor of the then called Territory of La Pampa. On December 8, 1992 it was opened as the "First Tourist Estancia of La Pampa" by Governor Dr. Rubén R. Marín.

PRODUCTION:

Agriculture and livestock activities in general. Sowing and harvesting of wheat, barley, sunflower, etc. Rearing of Livestock: cattle, sheep and horses. Farm and vegetable garden.

LODGING AND MEALS:

The Main Farmhouse of classical style with hipped roof and galleries has 10 luxurious rooms for 24 persons, private bathrooms, Executive Suite and Presidential Suite; central heating, air conditioning, jacuzzi, TV, international direct dialing, fax, home-made cooking and deserts prepared with products of the farm. Typical "asado criollo" (barbacue) and clay oven. Own transportation.

LANGUAGES:

English, French, Spanish and Italian spoken.

ACTIVITIES:

Agrotourism: cattle rustle and enclosure, participation in cereal sowing or harvesting, shearing, cattle branding and earmarking.

Horse-riding: Leaving from the period Old Stable to visit the Historic Fort "Huitrú". Photograph safari. Bird and fauna watching. Visits to an indian track (rastrillada). Exhibition of Carriages. Rural Museum. Chute. "Fiesta Gaucha" and Folk Music Shows. Nearby golf links. Swimming Pool with cascade and solarium. Art Gallery. San Marcos Chapel. Parks and Gardens. Fountains and Sculptures.

SPECIAL ATMOSPHERE AT THE ESTANCIA:

Hall with panoramic view and arbor for Parties and Congresses. Dining room for 350 people. Cocktails and Congresses for 600 people.

EDUCATION VISITS AND CAMPING:

Program acknowledged by the Ministry of Culture and Education.

SAN MARCOS CHAPEL:

Built to pay homage to San Marcos, patron of Nature and dedicated to the first born child of the family who was named Marcos. It was a coincidence that the second child of the family – Carola - was born three years later on April 25^th., St. Marcos’day. The chapel has important statues of Saints and family mementos.

HUITRU HISTORIC FORT

This last century military defense was rebuilt on the ruins found at 5 km from the Indian Track (rastrillada). It has an outlook tower (mangrullo), Commander’ office, Troup quarters, Water well, Clay oven, Poles fence, and three wagons from the beginning of this century which are property of the family.

In February 1998 the Huitrú Historic Fort was selected by the National Secretary of Tourism to illustrate the official poster of La Pampa Province and it was incorporated to the National Guide of Buenos Aires and its museums as a..."work of art outside its museums.."

The visit to the Huitrú Historic Fort is completed with a tour to 2 Museums of the Argentine Army.

MUSEUM OF CARRIAGES AND STABLES:

It includes: a French Landeau carriage, an American Cabriolet, a butcher-milkman cart, two sulkies, one Russian excursion coach wagon, one break, old models cars, collection of stone pavements and accessories.

RURAL MUSEUM:

With a collection of the first farm tools and machines: plows, sowing machines, tractors, combine harvester, rakes, water carts, etc.

PARKS AND GARDENS:

The main Farmhouse and the Hall for Special Events are located in the center of a 20 hectares park furrowed by eucaliptus, cypreses, laurels, "aromos" and wisterias groves.

Two staircases lead to the swimming pool guarded by the Seasons’ Muses: Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter Goddeses, symbolizing that Estancia Villaverde welcomes its guests all year long.

An important lightened cascade bathes the swimming pool. Also, the solarium, the "Fogón criollo" (fire around which a group of people are engaged in some social activity), the "Aljibe" (well), the Fountain of the Steeds, two equestrian sculptures that show the access to the park, benches, large street lights, San Marcos Chappel and an illuminated parking lot for 300 cars.

ATMOSPHERE:

The decoration of the Farmhouse counts with period and contemporary furniture, heirlooms, walnut-tree chest of drawers with beveled mirrors, armchairs imported from France, Vienese coat stands, crystal chandelier, bronze beds, period china and ornaments that match with the carpets in pastel colors and the drapes cheer up all the atmosphere.

The furniture of the park and the gardens correspond to the "Belle Epoque" style.
